Rattlins are a type of wobbler, but with cicadas it’s a little more complicated: they have the characteristic features of both classic wobblers and spinners. At the same time, experts note: rattlins are very similar in appearance and function to cicadas, so for those who have already used one type and learned to control it, it will be easier to master the technique of controlling another type.

Rattlins are characterized by two features:

• no blade;
• the mount is on the back.

These are sinking baits; the inner cavity contains balls that create a noise effect and attract the attention of fish. They can be compared to baby rattles: they vibrate and create noise from moving balls. Initially, the decision to buy rattlins was made by fishermen who were engaged in vertical winter fishing: the bait shone in the same way as, for example, a balance beam. However, later spinners also fell in love with this type of bait, as it has many advantages.

It is most profitable to buy rattlins for fishing with a fairly strong current. Due to the fastening on the back, the bait is positioned with its nose down and at an angle to the horizontal in the water. And since there is no blade in it, a high speed of movement is required for the rattlin to begin to vibrate.

There are several known methods of rattling wiring:

• vertical lure – you should use a bait with a tail. Such products not only vibrate in the water, but also make circular movements deviating from the vertical, which attracts the attention of fish;
• uniform – the fisherman needs to change the reeling speed from time to time;
• stepped – periodically it is necessary to allow the bait to submerge; at this moment it plays well and can become attractive to a predator. Often, it is at the moment of diving that a fish is caught on the rattlin and the bite begins;
• wavy – the fisherman immerses and raises the rod at random intervals. At this time, the bait in the water makes sinusoidal movements;
• jig with pecking along the bottom - the rattlin is held at a height of approximately 10 cm from the bottom surface, periodically the fisherman needs to allow it to sink into the silt.

The bait raises a small cloud of turbidity and imitates the movements of a feeding fish. A predator (pike perch or pike) that is nearby, but settled near the edge, will definitely attack the bait. This technique works even if you have been trying for a long time and unsuccessfully to lure well-fed fish out of shelter. True, for this, experts recommend choosing a rattlin with a brighter, more aggressive coloring.

As for cicada spoons, their characteristic feature is that they are made of metal in the shape of small fish. On the forehead or on the stomach - in the front - they have a thickening, due to which resistance is created when retrieving, and the bait plays in the water. The fastening ring is located in the center of the back. Some models have several rings on the back, located at some distance: the fisherman, depending on what kind of bait action is required, can change the fastening.

Types of cicada wiring:

• wavy - the technique is the same as when using rattlins - the angler needs to raise and lower the rod from time to time. A cicada in water at an angle to the horizontal will make characteristic movements;
• sine wave animation – free immersion of the bait is allowed, after which the fisherman reels in and releases the cicada again;
• jig with tapping on the bottom - the cicada plunges its nose into the mud and raises a cloud of turbidity.
